About

Ian McClellan is an emerging Lighting Designer and Entertainment Artist based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His wide array of work can be found in The 39 Steps, The Addams Family, The Invisible: Agents of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Carmen, Moby Dick, The Wedding Singer, and more.

Ian is currently pursuing his BFA in Drama Design from the University of Alberta and is expecting to graduate in 2024. He has worked with Catalyst Theatre, Saskatoon Opera, Storybook Theatre, The Honest Collective, and Scorpio Theatre, among other producers and companies.

Ian’s design practice is focused on the Lighting Design of Musicals & Plays, though he also involves himself as a Scenic Designer, Scenic Painter, Projection Designer, and a Lighting/Video Programmer. When not at the tech table or in the previs suite for a contracted project, Ian participates in the Improvisation Theatre Scene, with a long history as a Loose Moose Theatre Company Member assisting with Lights, Sound, FOH, and backstage for their weekly improv shows.

Ian is a student member of the Associated Designers of Canada, IATSE ADC Local 659, and engages in PACT and Indie Contracts. Please contact Ian for more info or if your project’s scope is outside the jurisdiction of  the ADC.
