Carmen (2022) – Saskatoon Opera

Lighting Designer

June 11th – 18th, 2022

Set in Seville, the opera deals with the love and jealousy of Don José, who is lured away from his duty as a soldier and his beloved Micaëla by the gypsy factory girl Carmen, whom he allows to escape from custody. He is later induced to join the smugglers with whom Carmen is associated but is driven wild by jealousy. This comes to a head when Carmen clarifies her preference for the bull-fighter Escamillo. The last act, outside the bull ring in Seville, brings Escamillo to the arena, accompanied by Carmen, stabbed to death by Don José, who has been awaiting her arrival.

2022 Tour: April 29 – May 11, 2022

France. 1940. After months of training and successful missions, The Invisible are sent on one of their most dangerous missions to date. Seven exceptional female operatives risk their lives to fight a dangerous war of sabotage, propaganda and espionage — breaking with decorum and defying expectations, these women achieve the impossible, helping to bring down the greatest threat of their time, only to go completely unseen. This genre-busting mash-up of historical research, film-noir, graphic novels, and musical theatre is a contemporary portrait of brave women who risked their lives to fight during WWII–only to find themselves betrayed by the very world they believed they were fighting for.

Spring Awakening (2020) – Storybook Theatre

Assistant Lighting Designer & Programmer

September 4 – 30, 2020

Based on Frank Wedekind’s groundbreaking and controversial play (once banned in Germany), Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik’s brilliant rock score and searingly emotional book take the story of sexual awakening, youth revolt, and self-discovery into a new century. It’s 1891, and grown-ups hold all the cards. Headstrong Melchior and naive Wendla stumble into each others’ arms, passionate and curious, while anxious Moritz struggles to live up to the stringent expectations of society. With only each other for guidance, this group of young men and women travel the fraught and rocky path of adolescence, discovering their bodies, their minds, and themselves along the way. An electric, vibrant celebration of youth and rebellion, Spring Awakening fuses issues of morality, sexuality, and rock and roll into a story that packs a powerful emotional punch.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2020) – The Honest Collective

Assistant Lighting Designer & Assistant Technical Director

February 21 – March 7, 2020

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vies for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves! At least the losers get a juice box.
